My own twist on a “closing of the bones” ceremony.
You are wrapped in beautiful scarves for a full body hug.
Then, your abdomen is massaged with a heated stone, and an herbal firming paste.
Finally you are sealed with a gorgeous Bengkung Bind.
Ideally this is done 5 days after birth. (Surgical Cesarean Birth timeframe at least two weeks)
You are tucked into a cocoon of scarves with warm flax packs along side you, as you are wrapped in the cocoon, you are blessed and honored. When the cocoon is unfurled, a “heating” oil is used to do a light abdominal massage.
Then, a heated stone is used to do a gentle press which aids in speeding healing, and feels fantastic.
The firming paste is then applied. It is full of beneficial anti-inflammatory herbs and spices that also help to firm and tighten the skin.
Finally, the Bengkung Bind is applied. I walk you through the process and teach you how to rebind yourself in the coming days.
Traditional Belly Binding serves to close the body back up, giving support to the vertical abdominal muscles and organs, which have undergone much physical change during pregnancy and birth.
The bind itself is worn 8-10 hours a day for 7-40 days (depending on your own personal healing journey)
